Smt. Shyamala Ramgopal started learning the art of Bharatanatyam at the age of 7 from Smt.Lekha Sasi ( Kalakshetra ) , Bahrain. She completed her Arangetram under the same guru in the year 1999. After moving to India ,Shyamala continued to learn the art under the guidance of Smt.Ratnam Janardhanan ( Director of Prathibha Nrithya Mandir , Nagpur , Maharashtra ). After marriage , she moved to United States in 2010 and pursued her dancing career under Smt.Sudha Srinivasan (Director of Nrithyalaya,Chicago,U.S).
Shyamala has given many performances in India ,Bahrain and United States.
She has a Visharad degree(B.A) in Bharatanatyam from Akhil Bharathiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal (A.B.G.M.V.M),Miraj (Maharashtra).

She has also learnt other forms of classical dances like Kathak,Kuchipudi and Mohiniattam.Shyamala has also attended many dance workshops conducted by famous Gurus such as Ganga thampi,The Dhananjayans, Priyadarshini Govind etc.
Shyamala has also learnt Carnatic music and won dance and music competitions.
She started Abhinayapriya Dance Academy at Atlanta,USA in 2016. After relocating back to India in 2019 , she resumed teaching online and in-person classes at Adyar, Chennai.
